Obituary for David Norris

David Norris passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. David John Norris was born September 8, 1951 to Edward and Margaret (Meany) Norris in Oak Park, Illinois. He attended St. Giles Elementary and continued his education at Oak Park River Forest High School where he was a standout athlete in football. He attended college at Northern Illinois University for two years before joining the Marine Corps Reserves. He faithfully served and was honorably discharged after attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1978, he married his true love Linda (Aikens) Norris and four years later was blessed with twin sons David and Joseph, who were his pride and joy. He worked at Protection One, until he retired in 2009. He is survived by wife Linda (Aikens), sons David (Andrea) and Joseph (Amanda Maschmeier, special friend); brothers: Michael (Barb), Edward (Lynn), Jeff (Janine), Tom (Teri); sisters: Mary Jo Delihant, Julie Norris, Margaret Norris; father-in-law, Jack Aikens, sister-in-law, Sharon Nistchneider, brother-in-law, Jack (Mary) Aikens and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are mother-in-law, Marie Aikens and sister, Kathy Norris. David volunteered his time helping those in need and was a constant source of hope to others. In celebration of his life a Christian mass will be held at St. Luke Parish, 7600 W Lake Street, River Forest, IL at 3:30 pm Tuesday January 31st, 2012. Following the service the family will greet guests at Drechsler Brown & Williams, 203 S. Marion St, Oak Park, IL from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm with a eulogy at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family are appreciated.
