Obituary for Dianne M. Gladden

Dianne M. Gladden, nee Moore; died at home on March 7, 2020. Born in Ashland, Kentucky on May 1, 1940, Dianne was the only child of Rev. Homer Moore and Violet Moore.

Dianne grew up in Maysville, Kentucky, and attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. While at DePauw, she met my father, Jim Gladden. After graduation, Dianne married Jim and moved to Boston where she attended Boston University and earned a master’s degree in music education. They moved to the Chicago area where she became a teacher in Melrose Park. Three sons came from their union: Jay, in 1967, Tom, in 1969, and Matt, in 1971. Dianne left teaching to focus her energy on raising her children.

Dianne had a personality that could light up a room, a great sense of humor, and a contagious laugh. She was that special friend who would always be there for you in an emergency. She loved her family, friends, dogs, reading, music, singing, playing the piano, hot weather, going to the beach, sunbathing, jogging, playing tennis, cooking, driving her car and going out to dinner.

Dianne was the loving mother of Jay (Sheri), Tom (Kim) and Matt (Emily Bloss) Gladden; cherished grandmother of Anna and Ben Gladden, Cia, Haley, Mike and Will Gladden, and Olive and Sebastian Gladden; former wife and friend of late Jim Gladden and dear friend of Michelle Hartman; and devoted daughter of the late Homer and Violet Moore.
