Dorothy L. Snyder, nee Dewar, 99, of River Forest, IL and West Palm Beach, FL. Born September 19, 1918 in Oak Park to Sylvia and James Dewar, and passed December 24, 2017 in West Palm Beach, FL. Beloved wife of the late H. Kent Snyder Jr.; loving mother of Alan (Ann), William (Marlene), and Peggy (James) Drury; devoted grandmother of Jennifer Snyder, Alan Snyder, James (Pam) Snyder, Amy (Konrad) Goscik, and Daniel Snyder, and James (Shanda) Drury IV; great-grandmother of Matthew, Meg, and Charles Snyder, Savannah and Luke Buechler, and Jackson Drury. Fond sister of James Dewar, Shirley McConachie, and Robert Dewar.
Dorothy was an avid golfer at Oak Park Country Club, played until her late 80’s. She belonged to the Infant Welfare Society, where she was a fundraiser. Dorothy loved her garden and spent much time planting and weeding. She attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and later transferred to Rosary College in River Forest where she graduated. Her greatest love however, was her love of painting. She spent many hours at her easel, mainly painting flowers from her garden and landscape.
