Obituary for Dr. Robert E. Madden

Dr. Robert E. Madden of Bronxville passed away on Thursday July 30, 2015. Robert was born on September 16, 1925 in Oak Park IL to the late Joseph and Gertrude Madden. He was raised in Oak Park and graduated from Oak Park High School. Robert bravely served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After the war he graduated from DePaul University in Chicago and later, the University of Illinois College of Medicine. On May 25, 1958 he married Susan Hale in Chicago IL. Robert was Chief of Vascular Surgery, Professor of Vascular Surgery and cancer researcher at New York Medical College until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, The Knights of Malta, The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Celtic Medical Society and Bronx Catholic Physicians Guild. Robert is survived by his children Robert of Menifee CA, Lisa of St. Louis MO, Karen of Bronxville and Kevin of Nashville TN as well as 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Virginia Madden of Oak Park. He was predeceased by his loving wife Susan and his brother Francis Joseph Madden of Oak Park IL. Visitation Saturday 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Giles Church, 1045 Columbian Ave., Oak Park. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
