Obituary for George M. Woywod

George M. Woywod, retired Major General, 83, longtime resident of Oak Park. Beloved husband of Kathryn, nee Murphy; loving father of Mary (David) Malone, Debbie (Danny) O'Connor, Jim (Deddra), George Jr. (Katie), Matt (Steffanie), and the late Marty (Anne) Woywod; devoted grandfather of Jennifer (Tim), Michael, Katie, Melissa, Jessica, Jane, Jack, Lexi, Elizabeth, Max, David, Auggie, Laney, Cassidy, Maggie, and Devynn; great-grandfather of Asher and Tobias; dear brother of the late August and Alfred Woywod; fond uncle of Eva Woywod; brother-in-law of Helen Murphy. George worked for the State of Illinois as a Quality Control Supervisor for Public Aid. He was very involved with Oak Park youth football. Visitation, Sunday, January 3rd, 3 to 9 p.m., at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Prayers Monday, January 4th 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home to Ascension Church for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In honor of Marty who passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease, in lieu of flowers, donations to Les Turner ALS foundation, 5550 W. Touhy Avenue, Suite 302, Skokie, IL 60077-3254 are appreciated.
