Obituary for Georgia M. Hale

Georgia Hale (nee Angell), 92 of River Forest, IL (formerly Oak Park) died on February 24, 2016. She was born on August 23, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Raised on the south side of Chicago, she attended the Starrett School of Girls and graduated from Jennings Seminary (Aurora) in 1942. She married her husband of over 60 years William (Bill) Hale in the fall of 1942. While Bill served in the 101st Airborne during WWII, Georgia returned to her family in the Chicago area and helped raise her younger siblings. Upon the end of the war Georgia and Bill worked for Georgia's father's business, Newly Weds Foods, and started a family, having two children; Michael in 1946 and Barbara in 1950. They settled in Oak Park where they resided for 43 years. Georgia worked at Oak Park River Forest High School as a cafeteria assistant, starting in 1964 and retiring in 1988. During their retirement Georgia and Bill enjoyed many travels. They settled in their final years in River Forest. Bill passed in 2003. Georgia enjoyed a long, full life. She was witty, and independent. She was the loving mother of Michael and Barbara (Allan Schmeling) Hale; cherished grandmother of Jessica Amann, Stephanie (Daniel) Johnson, and Amanda Schmeling; dear sister of, Patricia Angell, Charles (Sharon), Tom (Elsa) and Jim (Joyce) Angell and the late Adele (the late George) Churinoff, Joanne (the late Richard) Pierce, Paul (Judy) and Bob (Carol) Angell; special sister in law of Doris Angell; fond aunt of Gregory Gibson and many nieces and nephews. Services are private.
