Obituary for Helen McManmon Kuenster

Helen McManmon Kuenster died peacefully at her Oak Park home on Sunday, October 22. She was 99. A graduate of the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minnesota and the University of Iowa with a Masters’ degree in Nutrition, she had been a registered dietician at both West Suburban and Oak Park hospitals. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years Sylvester J. (Steve) Kuenster and two of her nine children, John J. (Mary Fran Hardin) and Mary Jo (Charles Bassett) Kuenster, she is survived by seven: Virginia (Charles) Yarbrough of Baton Rouge, Lenore (Gerald) Siemer of Overland Park, Kansas, Gregory J. (Songliu Rao) Kuenster of Oak Park, Maureen (Jean-Pierre Charmant) Kuenster of Prevessin, France, Mark J. Kuenster of Hastings, Minnesota, Margory (Reed Hobbs) Kuenster of Denham Springs, Louisiana and Angele (Donald Gardner) Kuenster of Oak Park. She was grandmother of nineteen: Kathryn (Jason Krozel) Kuenster, Ann Kuenster, Margaret (Michael) Karnick, John (Wendy Barg) Kuenster, Scott (Shelli Matthias) Siemer, Ami (Kendall) Garrison, Lora Siemer, Elliot, Tom and Steve Bassett, Audrey and David Charmant, Julia and Marie Yarbrough, Michael (Siri Bell) Kuenster, Chris (Ashleigh Phillippe) and Jacob (Amy Shrader) Hobbs, Helen and Kelsey Kuenster, and great-grandmother of Ella, JJ, Cameron, Ava, Caiden, Charles, Julius, Brody, Abby, Jake, Shane, Mallory, Jackson, and Lulu. Predeceased by parents John T. and Margie Mooney McManmon of St. Paul, sisters Marguerite, Mary Lenore C.S.J., Catherine (the late James) Anderson, brother John T. (Lorriane Allmaras) McManmon Jr., and great-granddaughter Ellen, she is survived by her loving sister Eleanor McManmon Daly of St. Paul as well as many cherished nephews, nieces and friends.

Visitation Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Family and friends will meet Saturday at St. Edmund Church, 188 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park for an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Edmund Church are appreciated.
