Obituary for Larry Albert Lambe

Larry Albert Lambe, age 71, of Hanover Park and formerly Oak Park, Illinois passed away December 20, 2020. Born on November 21st, 1949, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Donald and Grace Novak-Lambe. Ever since he was little, he was an intellect. Once he found his love of math, the field of mathematics would never be the same. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for his B.S, M.S, and Ph.D. in Mathematics. During this time, he managed to find the love of his life, Mary Kay Angland-Lambe. The life that they led was full of travel, education, and complex mathematics.

Dr. Lambe received global praise for his achievements, an honorary Ph.D. from Stockholm, Sweden, two honorary professorships from the Bangor University in Wales, and was nominated for a Fields Medal. Dr. Lambe mentored many students, domestically as well as abroad. He recently collaborated with Dr. José Camberos on projects for the Air Force Research Laboratory and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. Many thanks to all his friends - Mathematicians, Physicists and Scientists around the world.

Left with years of fond memories include his brother, Donald Gary Lambe; his sister and her husband, Vita and Chuck Tibbs; Aunt Mary Agnello-Miller; several close cousins; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Kim Angland;. his six nieces and nephews, Donald Ichiro, Susan, Rachel, Melissa, Kaela, and Vincent; and his great nephew and great niece, Riku and Camina.

Due to the trying times, we will hold a memorial service in the Spring. News to follow. Please, no flowers, Dr. Lambe was not much for fluff, but we would greatly appreciate donations which can be sent to the Children's First Fund supporting the Chicago Public Schools Foundation.
