Leslie W. Brettman, a lifelong resident of River Forest, veteran US Army, WW II; beloved husband of the late Colette nee McDevitt; loving father of Kathleen Crimm, Raymond, Allan (Karyn Hede) Brettman and the late Leslie W. Brettman Jr.; cherished grandfather of Rebecca (Steven) Blankenship, Gregory (Caroline Greenfield) and Anne (Eric Saites) Brettman; great-grandfather of Brandon, Joshua and Maggie Blankenship; dear brother of the late Dorothy (the late Alfred) Rauch and Ruth (the late William) Hankins; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Les worked in the consumer electronics industry for over 40 years, his career spanning from the earliest car radios to the semi-conductor. In his retirement he was a valued member of the Chicago Cubs staff working in game day operations. “Les was the nicest of the nice guys.”
Visitation Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St. Oak Park. Prayers Monday 10:15 a.m. to St. Luke Church for Mass at 11 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army (centralusa.salvationarmy.org/metro) or Misericordia Home (misericordia.com) are appreciated.
