Lilli Herold nee Schadek, age 88, beloved wife, mother and Oma was reunited with her beloved husband Stefan and was received into God’s loving arms on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Lilli was born in Dombrowa, Poland on Oct. 1, 1928 and was one of twelve children. She immigrated by ship to the United States with her husband and two children, Harry and Veronika, in 1957 and settled in Forest Park, IL. They formerly resided in Oak Park, River Forest, Elmhurst, and made their final home in Lemont, IL for 19 wonderful years. Lilli found great joy in her hobbies such as tending to her garden and yard, going to garage sales, knitting, crocheting, crafting, cooking and baking, canning, making jelly, sharing cherished memories at their camper in Yorkville and sewing everything from dish towels to Barbie & Ken clothes to her daughter’s wedding dress and veil. She loved all her many dogs and cats. Most of all she loved her family and spending as much time as she could with all of her grandchildren.
Lilli was predeceased by her husband Stefan of 69 years, who passed away just four months prior, her son Harry of Forest Park, IL, parents Christian and Amalia Schadek, sisters Else (Wilhelm) Grüning, Wanda Schadek, Ida Schadek, Leokadia (Alfred Fruck/Edmund) Schultz, Adele Schadek, brothers Emil Schadek, Hermann Schadek, Gottlieb (Bertha) Schadek, Albert (Else) Schadek, Edmund (Rose) Schadek all of Germany.
Lilli is survived by her daughter Veronika (Scott) McAdam of Lemont, IL, grandchildren Amanda McAdam of Palos Hills, IL, Scott (Brittany) McAdam of Orland Park, IL, Jamie Herold of Knoxville, TN, Stefan Herold of Troy, IL, her sister, Erna (Hans Schrottinger/Franz) Schwirtlich of Germany, great-grand puppy Nala and great-grand kitties June and Autumn.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 3 to 8 PM at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion Street, Oak Park, IL where services will be held on Friday, June 16 at 10 AM. Interment Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation (alzfdn. org), American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org), PAWS Chicago (pawschicago.org) and Best Friends Utah (utah.bestfriends.org) are appreciated.
