Lillian Gustafson nee Sasko, age 89, of Lincolnshire, IL and formerly Oak Park and River Forest, IL, was reunited on January 17th with Robert, her beloved husband of 50 years whom she met through the Oak Park Ski Club. She was the loving mother of Kathy, Robert "Thure" (Sallie) and John (Nancy); devoted grandmother (“Far Mor”) of Anna, Margaret, Eric, and Jack; dear sister of the late Rudolph (Anne and the late Hazel) Sasko; fond aunt, wonderful cousin, and great friend of many. Lillian graduated from Northern Illinois University followed by Masters degrees from University of Chicago and Northwestern University. She retired as a phenomenal schoolteacher of 40 years in 1993. Lillian was a member of Infant Welfare Society Oak Park Circle 1 for many years, an avid bridge player, loyal fan of all Chicago sports teams, and huge supporter of sending Hallmark cards. She loved betting on the ponies and enjoyed traveling the world, especially on cruises. Lilka embraced her Czech and Slovak heritage and of course, Prague was her favorite city she visited. Private Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. A Celebration of Life is tentatively scheduled on July 1st. In lieu of flowers, memorials to United Lutheran Church in Oak Park, IL are appreciated.
