Obituary for Margot E. Clayton

Margot E. Clayton, age 69, of Oak Park passed away on March 18, 2013. She was born in Oak Park on April 26, 1943 to the late Bernard and Leila Kinsala. Raised in the Austin area, she graduated from Austin High School and in 1965 from Cornell College. An early teaching opportunity at a U.S. Air Force base in England afforded her a chance to meet Raymond E. K. Clayton. They were married outside London on April 28, 1969. Returning to Chicago she taught in the Chicago public school system. Later she tutored privately, taught child safety and developed after school programming in the Oak Park schools, beginning with Hatch school. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters. She also served on the Oak Park Township, Youth Services committee, and the 19th Century Charitable Foundation. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest. She is survived by her daughter Amy (husband Will) Hansmann and her grandchildren Keith and Kyle Hansmann all of River Forest. She is also survived by her sister Norma Blanchard (husband Robert Burchill) of Oak Park and her nephew Douglas (wife Colleen) Blanchard and nieces; Lauren (husband David) McCarthy and Jennifer (husband Donald) Frey. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 23, at the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, 7551 Quick Ave., River Forest. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest or Youth Services, Oak Park Township, 105 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park, IL 60302 are appreciated.
