Marillyn (“Lynn”) McAdam Hudson, age 94, of River Forest; preceded in death by husbands Robert C. McAdam and R. Burton Hudson; beloved mother of Rob (Sandy), Scott (Veronika) and Carol; grandmother of Melissa (Ryan) Orr, Amanda (Andy) Huntington, Scott (Brittany), Mike, Jessica, Jennifer and Tim (Emily); great grandmother of Madelyn, Harper, Dawson, Parker, Beckham and Chase and grand dog Hunter; step-great grandmother of Blair and Wells, beloved aunt; and cherished friend to many.
Lynn was born in Chicago, IL. She moved as a toddler with her parents Claude and Ella, and brothers Jack and Bob Knuepfer to River Forest, IL where she became a lifetime resident. Growing up she was an accomplished dancer. She graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School. She attended DePauw University where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She was married to Bob McAdam in 1950 until his death in 1994, and was married to Burt Hudson from 1998 until his passing in 2012.
Marillyn was dedicated to service and volunteering. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest where she served as an Elder and a member of the Committee for Accessibility. For decades she volunteered at the West Suburban Hospital and served two separate terms as president of the WSH Auxiliary. She was a den mother for cub scouts and troop leader for girl scouts, and was involved with the Infant Welfare Society and The Economy Shop, among others.
She and her husband Bob were members of the Oak Park Country Club and the River Forest Tennis Club where she played tennis into her 80s.
Marillyn was a part-time resident of Fontana, WI for 40 years. She enjoyed travel, was a bridge player extraordinaire, loved nature, wildlife and dogs, but she was most passionate about her family and her faith.
A Celebration of Life service will be held July 24 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
