Obituary for Marion L. Brown

Marion Louise Brown, nee Ladwig, of Oak Park, Illinois crossed over into a new life with God on Sunday October 15, 2017. Dear wife of William Wallace Brown. Wonderful mother of her children William, David, Dale (Elizabeth) and Lisa (late Eric). Loving grandmother of seven grandchildren – Emily (Jon), Ben, Amy, Erin, Liam, Grace and Shannon. Marion was preceded in death by her father and mother, Edmund William Ladwig and Ida Louise Ladwig, nee Nolde, respectively.

Born in Neenah, Wisconsin on October 6, 1932, raised in River Forest, Illinois. Marion attended Grace Lutheran School in River Forest and then Oak Park High School. She graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in Geography. After college she worked for Illinois Bell Telephone as a Service Representative and then a Business Office Supervisor. She sang in her church choir and also in the Swedish Choral Club of Chicago.

Marion was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and trusted fully in Him as her Lord and Savior. She was Mary and Martha in one person. A dedicated student of the Word of God, and a tireless servant to her family and to all those in need. She witnessed the goodness of God and the promise of the Resurrection in her everyday life, and manifested her gifts at Grace Lutheran Church and school in River Forest, IL. Here is where she flourished, serving God as a choir member, volunteer, and even school bus driver. Indeed the church was her true home throughout her life. Along the way, she listened to God in every facet of her most wonderful life, and trusted in His grace and mercy at every turn. Later in life, as she suffered with physical issues and the pain associated with them, she never once complained, but rather trusted that God had a reason and a purpose for every struggle. And she overcame, and with God’s help she overcame again. Always concerned about the other person, and brushing off the praise for her wonderful goodness, she brought out the best in all of those she touched. She was a pure soul. One of God’s greatest creations. Rest in perfect peace and abundant joy sweet Marion.
