Obituary for Marjorie A. Ocasek

Marjorie Anne Walsh Ocasek born August 2, 1929 at home in Villa Park, IL to Lester David and Rita Cornelia (Sullivan) Walsh, died peacefully at home December 14, 2015. Preceded in death by her husband Edward James Ocasek, her sister Noreen Cooney, her brothers William and Richard. Survived by her children James Edward, Timothy Richard (Mary Beth nee Miller), Susan Jeanne (Edward Clayton) and David Lester and by her sister Jeanne Ellen (Bill) Ritchie. Beloved grandmother to Timothy Edward, Thomas Connor and Charlie Truman Ocasek, Eileen Anne and Kathryn Elizabeth Ocasek, Michael David and Gabriela Mariel Ocasek, Lexie Leigh Kamerman and Kristina Tosic McKelfresh. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Raised on the west side of Chicago, she attended St. Catherine of Sienna, Trinity High School, Rosary and Mundelein Colleges and married her high school sweetheart Ed in 1951. Known by everyone as Marge, she was very proud of her 47 year career at the law firm of Cooney & Stenn, now Cooney & Conway, starting in 1964 as a part-time secretary and ending as their Executive Administrator, retiring at age 82. She could organize anyone and anything whether they needed it or not! Her quiet pride was exceeded only by her work ethic. Marge balanced that career with raising her young family after Ed's death in 1974. Marge was co-founder of Caritas, the fund-raising organization for The Lieutenant Joseph P. Kennedy School for Exceptional Children. She was a no nonsense woman with a great sense of humor. She loved Frank Sinatra, her 5 o'clock vodka mart, singing, reading and her cigarettes. More than anything she adored her family. Visitation Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. Giles Church, 1045 Columbian Ave, Oak Park, IL from 9:30am until time of mass at 10:30am. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nora Cooney Marra Fund, c/o the Woman's Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL and the Lexie L. Kamerman Scholarship Fund at Knox College, Galesburg, IL are appreciated.
