Rosemary Strening Rogers, 94, of River Forest, IL, passed away peacefully at home on June 22, 2017. Rosemary was born on August 21, 1922, the daughter of Carlisle and Harriette nee Bentley. On May 28, 1949 she married Walter F. Rogers, Jr. who passed away on January 7, 2008. She is survived by seven children, Ronie Madden of LaGrange, Anne (Fran) Roche of River Forest, Steve (Barb) Rogers of Park Ridge, Mark (Betsy) of Western Springs, Marijo (Kevin) Kelly of Granger, IN., Walter M. Rogers of Hammond, IN., and Joanie (Terry) Herlihy of Long Grove; as well as twenty-seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Harriette Reedy of Tulsa, OK. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, two brothers and a son-in-law.
Rosemary attended St. Luke’s, Trinity High School and Rosary College. While raising her seven children in Oak Park, she volunteered at numerous charities and schools. After her children were grown, she worked as a paralegal for fifteen years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family and friends before herself. She was a gentle soul and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 29, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 7600 Lake St., River Forest, IL 60305.
In lieu of flowers donations in Rosemary’s name can be made to the Loyola’s Home Health Services and Hospice Center.
