Obituary for William L. Kennedy

William L. Kennedy passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on October 17, 2015. ��He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary Catherine Kennedy, nee Shanahan. ��Loving father of Kathleen Kennedy, Carol (John) Heidmann, Robert (Peggy) Kennedy, David (Sue) Kennedy, Mary (Charlie) McManigal, Jane (Pat) Joy, and Jody (Dan) Davis; dear stepfather of Shelia (Randy) Hanson, Mary (Peter) Schlafly, James (Rachel) Flanagan, Ned (Kristen) Flanagan, Julie Caron, and Tim Caron; beloved "Gramps" to 31 and "Great Gramps" to nine; fond brother of Jim (Georgeann, Sue) Kennedy and Pat (Don) Flock; cherished uncle, cousin, and friend of many. ��Preceded in death by his wives Shirley Kennedy, nee Griffin, Mary Alice Kennedy, nee Marquardt, and his siblings Rita (Ralph) Halvorsen, A.J. "Bud" (Marylou) Kennedy, and Jack (Kaye) Kennedy. ��Bill was a 1946 graduate of Fenwick High School, a 1950 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and president of A.J. Kennedy & Co. ��Visitation Tuesday October 20, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St. Oak Park. Family and friends will meet at Old St. Patrick's Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago 60661 on Wednesday October 21, for Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. ��Interment private. ��In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fenwick High School, Oak Park, IL or the North Lawndale Kinship Initiative c/o Old St. Pat's, 703 W. Monroe, Chicago, IL 60661.
