Susan Fitch Lo Giudice, age 65, a 14-year resident of Oak Park passed away on June 11, 2021, in Oak Park. Susan was born in Bryan, Texas in 1955 to the late David and Doris Fitch. She grew up in Denton, Texas and graduated from Denton High School 1973. Susan attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1977 and received her degree in History. After college she began teaching at Tide Haven High School in El Maton, TX. She then taught at Lamar High School in Rosenberg, TX, Calhoun Middle School in Denton, TX, Lake Dallas Middle School in Lake Dallas, TX and DeLay Middle School in Lewisville, TX. During her teaching career in Texas, she received her master’s degree in Special Education from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX. She married Salvatore Lo Giudice in June of 1981 in Denton, TX. She retired in 2007. Susan and Salvatore moved to Oak Park in 2007. She began volunteering at Ascension School in Oak Park where she taught religious classes. She was also a long-time volunteer at Chicago’s History Museum. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Salvatore her sister; Cynthia Fitch in Dallas, TX, and her aunt Sylvia Jenkins of West Palm Beach, FL. A funeral mass will be held at Ascension Church in Oak Park on Thursday June 17, 2021, at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to ALS Foundation (als.org) or the Chicago History Museum (chicagohistory.org) are appreciated.
