Obituary for Barbara J. Burns

Barbara J. Burns(Perry) of Oak Park, IL, died peacefully on May 25, surrounded by her family in Scottsdale, Az. Mrs. Burns was born Sept. 18, 1917 in Chicago's South side, graduated from St. Rita's Grade School, Aquinas High School, and attended De Paul University's College of Commerce. She married John W. Burns in 1944 and during World War II accompanied him to Texas where she did secretarial work with the 132nd Infantry Americal Division. Mrs. Burns was active in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scout organizations. She was proud to witness two of her sons and four of her grandsons become Eagle Scouts. She is survived by her children: Tom(Jane) of Sahuarita, AZ, Arlene Kole Salmon(Jim) of Phoenix, AZ, James(Chris) of Ottawa, KS, Bob of Arlington Heights, IL William(Karen) of Countryside, IL, and Frank Prindiville, (Husband of her deceased daughter Corrine) of Tucson, AZ. Mrs. Burns is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Timothy Burns of NV, Michael Burns of AZ, Daniel Burns of WA, Kathleen Hernandez of IL, Laura Burns of AZ, Jeffrey Burns of TX, Alexandra Keil of AZ, Jacqueline Papanicola of Cyprus, Elizabeth Alvarez of TX, David Prindiville of IL, Noah Huske of KS, Isaac Huske of England, Brian Burns of D.C., and Becky Burns of WI and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be held at Ascension Church, Oak Park, IL on June 27 at 10:00 AM, followed at 11:00 AM by a Memorial Mass. Mrs. Burns was a life-long lover of the National and State Parks.
